A dubious energy drink gives confidence to an impoverished Indian family in a determined debut film with a fabulous cast of lay actors.
"I will do it!" is the slogan of an energy drink called Nuracle. Sales representative Shivamma has made it her personal slogan as well. She lives in an impoverished town with her bedridden husband and their daughter of marriageable age. As a woman with no education, she has little opportunity to earn a living for her family. The pyramid scheme used to market the drink is the only thing Shivamma has faith in, and it's a source of hope against all odds.
Meet the director
Jaishankar Aryar
Jaishankar Aryar is a filmmaker and IT engineer from Bangalore, India. SHIVAMMA is his first feature film; it was part of the 2022 NFDC Film Bazaar Work-in-Progress Lab, where it received two awards. Aryar's short film LACCHAVVA received a special mention at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2020 as well as the 2020 Toto Award, the award for best film at the Bangalore International Short Film Festival in 2019, and various others. This short film is part of a Kannada anthology called KATHASANGAMA (available on Amazon Prime).
