Logline

An award-winning romantic drama starring Barbara Sukowa, directed like a suspenseful thriller.

The outside world knows Nina just as the nice neighbor across the hall, but Madeleine knows her as the love of her life. The two women have had a secret relationship for years; they dream of starting a new life together in Rome. Madeleine, however, can't bring herself to tell her family. Her adult children see in her the self-sacrificing widow who is in mourning over her late husband. Thus the outside world remains oblivious to the romance between the two women, and sneaking across the hallway from one apartment to the other is something they do on a daily basis. One day, however, an unexpected incident causes the doors to remain closed. Nina must risk everything to get to Madeleine.

Filippo Meneghetti

Originally from Padua, Italy, Filippo Meneghetti first began working in film as part of New York's independent film scene. After attending film school and earning a degree in anthropology in Rome, he co-wrote the feature film IMAGO MORTIS (2009). He was an assistant director for several years before making his own short films UNDICI (2011) and L'INTRUSO (2012), which were screened at various Italian and international festivals, where they received awards. In 2018, he moved to France, where he shot his short film LA BÊTE; it was screened in competition at SXSW in 2019 and at other international festivals as well.
