The joy of aging: an ode to freedom and the female orgasm.

Now 80 years old, Jarda Ícone is living life to the fullest. Eager to share that with others, she goes online to coach women from all over Brazil on the female orgasm, thinks up sex-positive queer feminist projects, and, with the help of a guitar-playing priest, preaches "the Catholic revolution" to the Church. As director and protagonist, Helena Ignez, a former actress who was once an icon of Brazilian underground cinema and a symbol of counterculture while the country was under military rule, invites us on a journey that also involves a marijuana-fueled trip to Morocco in the 1970s.

Helena Ignez

Helena Ignez was born in Salvador, the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia, in 1942. As an actress and filmmaker, she was a leading figure in the Cinema Marginal movement of the 1960s and 1970s alongside Rogério Sganzerla and Glauber Rocha. With little money but a great willingness to experiment, this movement produced films highlighting the issues of people marginalized by society. Ignez made her debut as an actress in 1959 in Glauber Rocha's short film PÁTIO. She has made several short and feature films of her own, including CANÇÃO DE BAAL (2008), inspired by Bertolt Brecht's play "Baal". Helena Ignez has received various honors for her work, such as the Grande Prémio do Cinema Brasileiro (Brazilian Cinema Grand Prize) in 2017 and the Prémio Leon Cakoff (Leon Cakoff Prize) at the 45th São Paulo International Film Festival in 2021. This award is given to individuals dedicated to the advancement of cinema from both an artistic and a humanitarian point of view.
