UP TO THE ELBOW A bicycle accident with far-reaching consequences happens somewhere in the higher reaches of the Swiss Alps on the opening day of the 2006 World Cup in Germany and throws Achim, Willi and Sven together. Sven, a bank employee on the North Sea island of Sylt, is vacationing in the mountains, trying to come to grips with the death of his girlfriend. A bizarre accident leaves Willi feeling responsible for Sven‘s death. Calling the police is not an option. Willi wants to fulfill Sven’s last request and bury him at the 'Elbow' on Sylt, where his girlfriend drowned. But Achim comes up with a different plan: that they rob the bank where Sven worked – with the help of his corpse. Hesitantly, Willi agrees. The exceptional circumstances during the 2006 World Cup help put their plan into action. A madcap, dark-humored road trip begins...
