Zero

Its beginning is an end and its end is a beginning. It's about people living in a city which could be anywhere. Like the many anonymous characters in the story it is a nameless city. The story rests upon the principle of how the camera follows the last character speaking. As if it wanted to discover the fate of all the characters we meet along the way. But we only see fragments of their lives – only the fragments the camera allows us to see. The camera, in its relentless march forward, will pick out some of the characters we’ve already met as it continues to show another fragment in this story taking place over 24 hours. The good to which the characters give rise causes either further good or the reverse – evil. In this way evil causes either further evil or good. Nothing will be as it seems. This is a film about a certain disappointment with positive film protagonists. It is a film about love although no such word is spoken in the film. It is a film about that which exists beyond the film frame and beyond cinema. Our faults. I invite you, the viewer, to the world of ZERO. Pawel Borowki
