Alms For A Blind Horse

In a village in northwestern Punjab, a discontented family witnesses events revealing the effect of years of subordination of the struggling classes . . . A father helps demand justice for an eviction. His son Melu is injured in a union strike. A mother feels humiliated by the field owners she works for. But underneath the repression, there is a simmering fire – a longing to uprise in unison.
"Singh's dispassionate direction of the characters, their faces, gestures, sounds, and conflicts evoke a sense of simmering personal disaster in the lives of these mostly silent witnesses."
