Best Intentions
When his mother suffers a stroke, Alex, a man in his mid-thirties, plunges into a phase of an-xiety that no one is able to cure. Though his mother’s situation quickly improves, Alex’s exhausting apprehension blinds him to reality. Refusing to listen to anyone who tries to help or reassure him, he is constantly on edge and throws tantrums at the hospital. As his paranoia intensifies, it becomes clear that Alex’s own sanity is a greater concern than his mother’s health . . . Sitaru’s insightful portrayal of an ordinary Romanian family transcends geographical boundaries and unearths universal behavior patterns in some of our most intimate relationships.
