The death of his mother draws a young Frenchman back to his childhood in Los Angeles as he prepares to wrap up her estate. However, things become complicated when he discovers that his mother was very fond of a woman who appears in her will. Compelled by a sense of loyalty to his mother, Martin sets out to track down Lola, who must now be a woman. His search takes him across the border to the flesh pots of Tijuana, where a tourist like Martin soon finds himself at sea in very unfamiliar territory. What he finds there changes his life.
"Mathieu Demy’s debut feature functions both as an homage to his famous parents . . . Demy takes footage from a film shot by his mother while the family was living in Los Angeles in the eighties and incorporates it elegantly into his carefully structured fiction narrative . . ."
