Bella Block - The Carpetlayer's Wife

It's asparagus season. Inspector Bella Block notices a scuffle between a man and a woman without really paying much interest to it - she's investigating the case of a drunk stabbed to death in his sleep. But Maria, a young asparagus harvester from Poland, cannot stop the man from molesting her. Even though she begs for help from passersby, no one pays any attention to her. She is raped. Block investigates but the young rapist denies the use of any force. Only the witnesses can substantiate the opposite. But interrogating them, one thing becomes strangely clear to Block: Each of the witnesses relates a totally different account of the circumstances leading to the alleged offence...
