Nico Hofmann, born in Heidelberg in 1959, is one of Germany's leading film and television producers and CEO of UFA.

He was responsible for some of the most successful films and series of the last two decades, such as DER TUNNEL, DRESDEN, DIE FLUCHT, UNSERE MÜTTER, UNSERE VÄTER, DEUTSCHLAND83, KU'DAMM 56/59 and CHARITÉ.

Hofmann also produced DER MEDICUS, with a cinema audience of over 4 million, as well as the film adaptation of Hape Kerkeling's pilgrimage novel ICH BIN DANN MAL WEG. The feature film DER JUNGE MUSS AN DIE FRISCHE LUFT was the most successful German theatrical production in 2018 and has so far thrilled more than 3.8 million viewers.

His most recent projects include the filming of the Wirecard scandal and a large-scale documentary about Angela Merkel. Also in preparation is a cinematic examination of the lives of the exceptional magicians Siegfried & Roy.

Hofmann is also a professor at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy and artistic director of the Nibelungen Festival in Worms. In 1999, together with Bernd Eichinger, he established the FIRST STEPS award for young filmmakers. He has received numerous national and international awards for his work.
