As the place where the Nazi Party was founded, Munich was more closely connected with the rise of National Socialism than any other city. The Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism (NS-Dokumentationszentrum) on the site of the former party headquarters addresses this difficult past. A permanent exhibition in German and English documents the origin of National Socialism as well as its effects and consequences up to the present day. The center’s offerings also include a learning center with digital media and research opportunities, changing special exhibitions, a varied program of events, and various educational resources. In interdisciplinary projects, the NS-Dokumentationszentrum combines historical and political education, science, remembrance work, art, and culture.
