The 100,000-euro CineCoPro Award is the most lucrative prize for German co-producers of international co-productions. The award will be presented this year for the second time.

After a four-year break, the Munich International Film Festival brings back the 100,000-euro CineCoPro Award. International co-productions involving German co-producers will vie for this exceptional award in the CineCoPro Competition. The films in this section are selected by the Munich International Film Festival’s team of curators. All of the films nominated for the award will be screened in Munich as world, international, European, or German premieres.

The prize money of 100,000 euros will be provided by the FFF Bayern and distributed to the German co-producers of the winning film for the next co-production. The winning film will be chosen by an independent jury comprised of three experts. The award ceremony will be held during the Munich International Film Festival on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

"This unique award honors and emphasizes the work of us German producers with creatives from all over the world as well as international co-production partners. These projects are of great importance for our industry," says Viola Fügen and Michael Weber producers and winners of the first CineCoPro Award in 2019 for the Brazilian-German co-production "A Vida invisível de Eurídice Gusmão" (director: Karim Aïnouz).

The prize money went towards two follow-up projects co-produced by Match Factory, including "Never gonna snow again", which was screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN in 2021 as part of a tribute to Polish director Małgorzata Szumowska.

“Working together to achieve great things is something that international co-productions in particular can do well. We are especially proud when German producers contribute to such success and qualify for the CineCoPro Award. This award is a joint project of FFF Bayern, the principal address for film funding in Bavaria, and the Munich International Film Festival, the leading platform for German filmmaking. The lucrative CineCoPro Award underscores the importance of international co-productions to Bavaria as a center of filmmaking and celebrates the achievement of the creative minds who have earned it.” says Dr. Florian Herrmann, Director of the Bavarian State Chancellery and Minister of State for Media

“FFF Bayern has always supported international co-productions and has enhanced this support through its own funding program for more than a decade. The platform that the Munich International Film Festival regularly provides filmmakers for building an international network is a major stepping stone toward enabling new partnerships and collaborations across the globe. We firmly support the CineCoPro Conference and this lucrative award for German co-producers of international film productions.” says Dorothee Erpenstein, Chief Executive of FFF Bayern

“We’re very grateful to FFF Bayern for making it possible to once again present this award. This will benefit the Munich International Film Festival as a central point of contact for the German co-production scene and its global partners, and will advance Bavaria’s reputation as an appealing location for the film industry.” says Festival director Christoph Gröner and artistic co-director Julia Weigl, Munich International Film Festival
