The 41st Munich International Film Festival will mark its grand finale with the European premiere of the Icelandic film “Touch” on Saturday, July 6 and an Audience Day on Sunday, July 7.

Touch” by Icelandic director and actor Baltasar Kormákur tells a touching love story involving memories of yesteryear and secrets that slowly come to light. Kristófer, a chef, is awaiting a medical diagnosis that could have life-changing consequences. Although he has attempted to train his memory, he’s become increasingly forgetful. An MRI scan will show how far his dementia has progressed. But instead of staying put in snowy Reykjavík and waiting for a call from his doctor, Kristófer hops on a plane. He sets off to chase after his memories and find answers to questions about the past while he still can. His journey takes him first to London and later to Japan in search of the love of his life, whom he lost 50 years ago. Director Baltasar Kormákur delicately interweaves flashbacks to London in the late 1960s with Kristófer’s search at the start of the coronavirus crisis in 2020. Lead actor Egill Ólafsson portrays the lovestruck man with such affection that Kristófer not only makes new friends along the way, but is also a real joy to watch.

Director Baltasar Kormákur, one of the leading voices of Icelandic cinema, will personally present the film on Saturday, July 6 at 7:30 pm in the ASTOR Film Lounge at ARRI.
