EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP IN THE FILM INDUSTRY: NAVIGATING TIME AND BUDGET CONSTRAINTS

Logline

Organizer: Assistant Directors Union (ADU)

This panel discussion will address the unique challenges faced by leaders in the modern film industry. Particularly, it will focus on how to become an effective, inspiring, and fair leader in the face of extreme time and budget constraints. The discussion is organized by the association of ADs & RAs in Germany, the Assistant Directors’ Union (ADU).

Since its founding five years ago, the association has been committed to increasing collaboration among filmmakers and promoting an industry-wide dialogue. With a careful selection of 4–5 speakers from different areas in film production, we plan to present a wide range of perspectives and experiences. Our aim is not only to offer valuable insights, but also to provide concrete strategies on how to operate effectively in challenging work environments.

The discussion will center around the following questions: How can communication and collaboration be effective in a fast-paced and stressful environment? What strategies help to manage conflicts and promote a positive working environment, even under pressure? How can managers ensure that all team members are respected and supported, regardless of gender, background, or other characteristics?

What do managers need to consider when putting together teams quickly and effectively to meet the demands of a project?
