A movie is timeless and eternal; a relationship might not be.
Allie and Eric, a neurotic millennial couple, adopt a traumatized rescue dog that wreaks havoc but helps Eric to overcome his writer’s block. Brimming with inspiration, he plans to make an autofictional movie in which he and Allie play themselves. At some point, however, Eric must make a fundamental decision: either to film his life or to live it.

Ben Petrie
Ben Petrie is a Canadian independent filmmaker who was named one of Filmmaker magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film. His short film HER FRIEND ADAM (2016) received an award at Sundance for Grace Glowicki’s acting performance. THE HEIRLOOM, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024, is Petrie’s first feature-length film.
