Logline

This is the first feature film to have both an Iranian and an Israeli director.

Leila, an Iranian judoka, is competing in the judo world championship in Tbilisi. When the initial rounds of the competition indicate that she might face a rival from Israel, she’s contacted by the regime in Tehran. Leila is told to fake an injury and pull out of the competition — leaving her to make an impossible decision that could even put her family in jeopardy.

TATAMI marks actress Zar Amir’s debut as a director. It is also Guy Nattiv’s sixth feature film. His short film SKIN received an Academy Award in 2019. The screenplay for TATAMI was written by Guy Nattiv and Elham Erfani and inspired by various real-life events. TATAMI had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in 2023, where it earned the Brian Award.
