An atmospheric feature-film debut that straddles the line between mystery and trauma.
Arriving in town to audition for an international troupe gives Lilja a welcome opportunity to meet her grandparents. Although they’ve never had much to do with her, they give her a warm welcome and take her in. But why does Lilja’s father react so strangely when he finds out? And what’s the deal with the swimming pool in the basement?

Meet the director
Helena Stefánsdóttir
Helena Stefánsdóttir was born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. She studied acting and directing in Paris and completed her master’s degree in video art in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2003 she founded the production company Wonderland Films. After making several short films and documentaries, she directed her first feature film, NATATORIUM. Besides working in film, she is also a video artist.
