Logline

Oscar-nominated director Sean Wang’s impressive motion-picture debut is not only a hilarious and touching coming-of-age film, but also a personal ode to his own mother and the carefree early days of social media.

Suburban California, 2008: at the end of summer before high school starts, 13-year-old Chris has a few challenges to contend with. At home, his sister, who is four years older than him, is driving him crazy. Attempting to shoot videos while skateboarding in order to score points with the “cool kids” gets him into hot water. And then there’s his (online) flirtation with a girl at school, which gets him into more trouble than he realizes.

This film is screened in original version with German subtitles.

Recommended for ages 11 and up.
