In the busy streets of the Ghanaian capital, Accra, four friends experience the challenges of coming of age. Their lives are defined by uncertain plans for the future, complicated father-son relationships, sexual stereotypes, and fear of letting go of childhood innocence. The basketball court offers a fun escape from everyday life.

Meet the director
Jan Hendrik Lübbers
Jan Hendrik Lübbers, born in 1999, volunteered as a basketball coach in Accra, Ghana, for eleven months after he graduated from high school. In 2023, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in directing from the International Film School Cologne. He has long been interested in approaching the coming-of-age genre through a documentary about sports. In his hybrid graduation film O CHALE, he revisits Accra and his passion for basketball.
