A powerful family drama — and the first Somali film at Cannes!
It would be hard to call this Somali village paradise. The civil war is never far away. And on top of that, Mamargrade, who lives with his son Cigaal and his sister Araweelo, has even more pressing concerns. He needs money. He barely earns enough as a gravedigger. When the only school in the village is closed, too, Cigaal has to come up with something.
