Logline

This superbly acted biographical drama about sexism in show business earned Jessica Lange her first Oscar nomination.

The true story of actress Frances Farmer, who rose to fame in the 1930s and was then crushed by the Hollywood studio system. Farmer fought the tabloids and turned down superficial roles. In 1943, she was committed to a mental hospital for her alleged hysteria and was not to leave for eleven years.
