FORTRESS MARIUPOL. LAST DAY AT AZOVSTAL
This short documentary by the Babylon’13 collective shows the soldier Dmytro Kozatskyy the day before he was captured by Russian troops at the Azovstal steelworks.

Meet the director
Yuliia Hontaruk
Dmytro Kozatskyy is a Ukrainian soldier and photographer. He is known for his work during the defense of Mariupol, especially on the territory of the Azovstal steel plant. He captured key moments of the Mariupol's defense and the life of civilians in Azovstal's bunkers. The photos have received great recognition, including awards at international competitions. In 2022, he was included in the rating “30 under 30: Faces of the Future” by Forbes Ukraine. He is Co-director of the short FORTRESS MARIUPOL. LAST DAY AT AZOVSTAL.
Yuliia Hontaruk is a Ukrainian director and producer of documentary and feature films. She was born in Kyiv in 1987 and is a co-founder of the collective Babylon’13. Her short film FORTRESS MARIUPOL. LAST DAY AT AZOVSTAL was named best short documentary at the Ukrainian Film Academy Awards in 2023.
