Logline

A haunting and morally ambiguous search for a place to call home.

Chatila and Reda, two Palestinian cousins, have a dream: to open a café in Germany. They’ve already made it as far as Greece, but without papers, without prospects, and without money. Giving up is not an option, though. Undeterred, they stick to their goal, even if it means having to make increasingly questionable decisions.

TO A LAND UNKNOWN

Mahdi Fleifel

Mahdi Fleifel is a Palestinian-Danish director who was born in Dubai in 1979. He grew up in a refugee camp in Lebanon before moving to Denmark. He later attended the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, England. His documentary A WORLD NOT OURS (2012), which earned more than 30 awards, depicted life in a refugee camp. His first feature film, TO A LAND UNKNOWN, was screened at the Quinzaine des cinéastes at Cannes in 2024.
