AN AFTERNOON WITH... CHECKER TOBI - MOVIE MAGIC

On Sunday, June 30, “Checker Tobi” Krell invites you to an interactive stage show for the whole family. The director of the CineKindl film festival series offers film fans young and old a fascinating look behind the scenes of filmmaking.

Together with the audience, “Checker Tobi” will reveal the secrets and tricks that bring the magic of cinema to life. He will also welcome two filmmakers to the stage, Reza Memari and Maite Woköck, who will give an exclusive insight into the making of their animated film THE LAST SINGER OF THE WALES - and of course the audience can join in the puzzling, asking questions and shouting.

“I'm delighted to be bringing a live show to the stage for the first time as part of the Filmfest, where I'll be taking a look behind the scenes of film and cinema together with the audience. It will be fun, interactive and I'm sure both children and adults will learn a lot.” - Tobi Krell

AN EVENING WITH... JESSICA LANGE

A Hollywood great takes to the stage: Jessica Lange comes to Munich and receives the CineMerit Award from FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. At the Deutsches Theater, the two-time Oscar winner will take the audience on a journey through her unparalleled career - from TOOTSIE to BLUE SKY to AMERICAN HORROR STORY. We will also learn more about Lange's inspiring work as a photo artist.

In addition to an in-depth FilmTalk, Jessica Lange presents the premiere of her new film THE GREAT LILLIAN HALL. Jessica Lange stars as the lead actress of a play in this emotional drama about growing older and the sum of the roles one plays in life.

Jessica Lange can adorn herself with the so-called “Triple Crown of Acting”: For Lange has already been honored with two Oscars, three Emmy Awards and a Tony Award - as well as a further five Golden Globes.

AN EVENING WITH... two to one

TWO TO ONE celebrates its big audience premiere at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN on Monday evening! The leading actors Sandra Hüller and Ronald Zehrfeld and director Natja Brunckhorst, among others, will present their ensemble comedy at the Deutsches Theater.

The film takes us back to the summer of 1990 and tells the story of a humorous adventure about money and justice as well as friendship and family with top-class German stars.

TWO TO ONE is a German-German comedy as it has never been told before and is based on the true case of the “Treasure of Halberstadt”. The three friends Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) accidentally find the GDR's Ostmark millions stored in an old mine shaft and decide without further ado to wipe out the emerging capitalism.

The date for the public premiere is historic and could not be more fitting: Because exactly 34 years ago to the day, on the night of July 1, 1990, Germans in East and West celebrated the changeover to the Deutschmark. On this evening, we celebrate TWO TO ONE!

The film will be shown with english subtitles.

AN EVENING WITH... KATE WINSLET

World star Kate Winslet is coming to Munich! The Oscar winner will personally present the European premiere of her new film LEE. On this unique evening, Kate Winslet will tell the audience about the making of the film in an in-depth FilmTalk and will be presented with the CineMerit Award.

In LEE, Kate Winslet takes on the leading role of war correspondent Lee Miller and paints the portrait of a woman as fearless as she is complex, whose work is among the most important photographic works of the 20th century.

The film by director Ellen Kuras is a sensitive and visually stunning work and features a top-class cast alongside Winslet, including Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, Josh O'Connor and Alexander Skarsgård.

As part of the event, Kate Winslet will be honored with our CineMerit Award, which recognizes her contributions to the art of film. The CineMerit joins Winslet's numerous awards, including an Emmy, a Grammy, five Golden Globes and the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
