Summer cinema of superlatives

RUMOURS with actor Charles Dance

Take seven world leaders and confront them with a global crisis. The result? A completely bonkers satire that is even more impenetrable than the remote forest through which the men and women wander. Whether gigantic brains, zombies or missing personnel: anything is possible here, except constructive cooperation. Our cooperation starts with the absurd adventure RUMOURS on July 31.

The satire not only boasts stars such as Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander, we are also expecting leading actor Charles Dance himself in Munich. The British all-round talent of stage, screen and screen is probably best known to most as the power-hungry patriarch Tywin Lannister in GAME OF THRONES. The Filmfest's management duo, Christoph Gröner and Julia Weigl, are really looking forward to welcoming the acting star to the stage at Königsplatz.

Germany-wide BARBIE event

But the party doesn't end there: on August 1, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is part of the Germany-wide initiative “Ein Land sieht einen Film” (A country sees a film) - launched by the Bundesverband der Open Air Kinos e.V. (Federal Association of Open Air Cinemas): let's remember the summer phenomenon of 2023 once again and watch BARBIE together on the big screen. Greta Gerwig's social satire in pink will be shown in over 20 open-air cinemas. And the Filmfest doesn't want to miss out. We will be on site at Kino am Königsplatz - as well as at our long-standing partner, Kino, Mond & Sterne - to celebrate cinema with you.
