FOR YOUNG AND OLD!

“Raise the curtain and roll the film for the little ones and the grown-ups” is the motto every summer, when Kinderfilmfest München (#kffmuc) invites all children and families to enjoy the cinema experience together. Even though the corona crisis has made it necessary to cancel this year’s edition, we’ll be back soon! And so that you can continue to find out what’s happening, Kinderfilmfest München now has its own newsletter. Sign up right away and find out what’s in store for you next year. We’ll again be offering a terrific selection of the latest international children’s films. There will also be lots of special events and exciting highlights!

How long has the Kinderfilmfest been around?

As a section of FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, the Kinderfilmfest has had its finger on the pulse of national and international children’s films since 1983 and is considered one of the oldest and most renowned family and children’s film festivals in Germany.

Who is its target audience?

All children and young people aged 5 to 13 are invited to immerse themselves in exciting adventures and fantastical stories. They can visit the Kinderfilmfest with their day-care, kindergarten, and school classes or with extracurricular institutions. They can also simply explore the festival in their free time with their families and friends.

How are the individual screenings held?

All films are shown in the original language with English subtitles. To make it easier for young and old alike to enjoy the films, these are (if necessary) dubbed into German by professional speakers live in the theater, making for a unique experience. Directors, actors, and other invited guests are often on hand to answer questions from the audience in moderated discussions after the screening (see #kffmucPlus).

Instructional materials and #kffmucPlus

For teachers, educators, parents, grandparents, and other interested parties, we provide information and a guide to each film. You’ll find the instructional materials for the respective films here on our website. In addition, the film communications platform #kffmucPlus is designed to promote media literacy in a playful and informative way that is appropriate for all ages. The young festival visitors will be able to join media educators and, in some cases, guests from the film team for a look behind the scenes of a film right after its screening in the roughly 30-minute #kffmucPlus sessions and explore the film as a work of art.

Stay up to date!
