Welcome to FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, the #1 platform for German filmmaking, where you’ll also discover the latest in international cinema!

Nowhere else are German films as visible and in the foreground as here. Nowhere else is equal attention given to screenings and world premieres of works by new and established directors; of motion pictures, TV movies, and series; of minor works and major German and international co-productions. Our festival launches these productions on their international journey.

ADMISSION TO THE FFMUC BEERGARDEN CONVENTION

For film industry representatives from Germany and abroad, this is the place to be. Germany’s leading summertime film festival is where members of the German film scene not only attend formal meetings, but also meet up casually on countless occasions, helping many a major film project to get off the ground. And of course, these interactions often take place in Munich’s wonderful beer gardens. So it’s only natural that FILMFEST MÜNCHEN refers to its entire program for the film industry by one defining moniker: our Beergarden Convention.

a selection of the finest films

The films are, of course, the centerpiece of every festival. Each year, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN screens some 150 productions from every corner of the globe, including numerous world premieres. Not only will you be able to attend a number of international premieres; above all, seeing the world premieres of some 40 German productions. Additionally, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is where numerous international, world, and German premieres find a distributor and make their way into theaters across Germany.

We present many of these films at the morning press & industry screenings (p&i screenings), which you may attend without registering in advance. Additionally, your accreditation entitles you to complimentary tickets to the public screenings.

PANELS AND OUR FILMMAKERS LIVE!

The Filmmakers Live! discussions are a further highlight of FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. They’re open to the public and to industry representatives free of charge. Our moderators talk to new and established filmmakers about their work, their latest projects, and topical issues in the world of film, and always open these discussions to the audience.

In addition to Filmmakers Live! there are numerous other panels at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN to which you also have access. The panels will deal with current developments and future opportunities in the film and television industry.

Everything at a glance: the festival catalogue

Accredited individuals receive a festival bag that includes a free FILMFEST MÜNCHEN catalogue (normally sold for 20 euros). The catalogue offers professionals a wealth of information about all the films, along with comprehensive essays, in German and English.

Join us for our happy hours

Every afternoon, our sponsors and partners invite you to happy hour at the Beergarden Convention. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet up over summery drinks and snacks, to expand your network and discuss exciting projects.

Active networking: Isar Jump & more

You can get to know people even more casually at the morning Isar Jump, when Filmfest staff, festival guests and industry representatives start the day with a refreshing dip in the Isar river. Accredited individuals will be notified of these and other activities every day at the Festival Center.

Nearly all events are held at or around the festival center at the Amerikahaus, adjacent to the exclusive Beergarden Convention as well as to the publicly accessible festival lounge. This means that distances are short and you can enjoy the festival’s summertime atmosphere between events whenever you like.
